This ice-cream tastes so good and doesn’t have the added nasties ofSugar Free & Dairy Free Ice Cream from Optimum Wellness shop bought ice-cream.  It is DAIRY FREE and SUGAR FREE and is ridiculously simple to make even a novice can make it.  Even though there are only a couple of ingredients it has the same texture and flavour of real ice cream – trust me, so many people are surprised how good it tastes, it’s awesome.

With the weather so warm my kids are asking for ice-cream every day. Don’t get me wrong I don’t mind the occasional ice-cream but really they aren’t something kids should be eating every day.  Many have artificial colours and flavours which is a definite no for my youngest child who suffers from intolerances.

The bonus is that along with tasting really delicious it can be easily made in lots of different flavours.  I love it with bananas and peanut butter with chunks of dark chocolate and also with bananas, almond butter and medjool dates. Scrumptious! I think the key to its success to always include bananas!

I keep a tub in the freezer and when there are over ripe bananas in the house and no one will eat them I slice them into the tub.  When the tub is full I make a batch of ice-cream.

What you need

2 very ripe bananas

A good handful or two of fresh or frozen strawberriesSugar Free & Dairy Free Ice Cream

How to make it

  1. Chop the bananas into slices and freeze.
  2. Take the bananas out of the freezer about 10 minutes before making the ice cream.  Let them soften a bit.
  3. Put the chopped bananas & strawberries in a liquidiser, I use my Nutribullet until they are smooth.
  4. Empty into a freezable tub or ice cream moulds.
  5. Freeze
