Don’t beat around the bush, you must do this for weight loss.

January 1st is a great time to start make a change.  What are your new year’s resolutions?  You are going on a Weight Loss diet, no more Chocolate, more exercise, work less, stress enjoy life more?

We are now all so conscious of the need to maintain a healthy weight, Ireland is predicted to be the fattest European country 2030!

Maybe you know you need to lose weight – your clothes don’t fit as well as they used or possibly you buy a clothes size bigger.  Perhaps those extra pounds crept on and you were too busy to notice and if you did notice you weren’t ready to change.

Now 2017 is your year, you have just had enough and you are going to lose weight.  It is a great commitment to make to yourself, well done.

Here are my top 3 tips to help you shift those pounds:

  1. Eat Loads of Vegetables. These are by far our most important food group, it is what we, as humans, are designed to eat.  Vegetables are packed full of nutrients, phytonutrients and antioxidant and tend to be low in calories.  So ensure you include lots of colours and varieties in your diet.
  2. Avoid sugar and sweeteners. I’m not just talking about the usual sweet foods like cakes, sweets, biscuits, fizzy drinks. I am talking about added sugar and sweeteners in pre-packaged and processed foods.  Read the ingredients list on the food label and don’t eat it if some form of sweetener is added. Be careful the food manufactures are really good at disguising sugar and there are over 50 names for sugar!  I have added an infographic below of the most popular names!
  3. Reduce your intake of Carbohydrate foodsg. Pasta, Bread, Rice, Spaghetti, Noodles, Potatoes. We get a lot of our calories from these foods and if we eat too much of them we store the extra calories as fat.  This is not what you want.  As a result eat less of these foods.

Which of these tips can you include in your life?
